Translation into 19 languages
Late September 2009 saw Reflex Translations’ office in Győr, Hungary receive a purchase order which was special not so much because of the volume to be translated but more because of the number of target languages involved. Hungary’s National Transport Agency requested us to translate in one day a two-page document into 19 different tongues, including some of the less common ones such as Estonian, Irish and Turkish, a task which requires a lot of effort in terms of organisation even if you have a vast translator database available at hand. This project now comes in at second place behind the 22-language record holder completed a few years ago.

Simultaneous Interpreting at the Parliament
Widely reported in both the print and broadcast media, the signing of a cooperation agreement between the government of Hungary and Dailmer AG took place in late October to reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting Daimler in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Kecskemét. Attending the ceremony at the House of Parliament were the prime minister, the minister of the economy, the mayor of Kecskemét, as well as Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz Cars Rainer Schmückle. Hungarian to German simultaneous interpreting was provided during the event by Reflex Translations.

Translation and Interpreting between Macedonian and Hungarian
Although around 80 percent of orders Reflex Translation Services receives are for translation to or from the most widely spoken European tongues and other world languages, it sometimes happens that we have to deal with languages that are considered almost as a rarity in Europe. In October 2008, one of our major international clients requested us to translate a material safety data sheet in Macedonian and also to make a telephone call to their partner in Macedonia. Spoken by a mere 2 million people, this South-Slavonic tongue is included in our 50 working languages – just like Armenian, Georgian, Turkmen, and others. Translation from such rare languages normally costs two or three times more than, for instance, from English or German to Hungarian.

385,000+ words from English to Hungarian, German, Slovakian, and Rumanian – within just 6 days
The most challenging project this year so far has been the translation of the training documents of an SAP enterprise management system from English to Hungarian, German, Slovak, and Romanian for client Schneider Electric. We managed to complete the job quite smoothly in a mere 6 working days in late May. This project clearly showed that the continued efforts to develop our translator network had been worth while, the resulting good relationship with Hungary-based and foreign translators being indispensable to the successful implementation. We remain in touch with this Client and look forward to a promised continuation of the project.

Translation to 7 languages and proofreading of www.iwanttovotetoo.com
In late April 2008, Reflex Translation Services received an order to translate and proofread a website at www.iwanttovotetoo.com to Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish.
We were happy to take on this job, which was not only a rewarding challenge from the language point of view, but also a project that revolved around the very current and popular topics of the 2008 US presidential election and, in relation to it, of globalisation and the freedom of opinion and expression.
This web-based voting system allows everyone to cast a ballot, from virtually anywhere on the planet, for or against candidates at ongoing democratic elections held in any part of the world. The operator of the website remains unbiased and undertakes never to influence voters’ decisions, and only provides disinterested information free of charge.
On 23rd May 2008, a press release was issued to inform the White House and several news channels, such as CNN or Arabic Al-Jazeera, about the website, bringing international attention and an immense readership to our translations from countries nearly all over the world.

Another 140,000+ words from English to Russian, 3 translators, 65 days
Our largest project in 2008 is now drawing to its end. This year we had to meet a less ambitious deadline than in 2007 to translate another set of Diageo Great Britain’s SAP system documents from English to Russian with 3 native Russian translators assigned to the job.
Of great assistance in implementing this project was our new project manager who joined Reflex Translations’ Budapest office this January and speaks Russian and Ukrainian to a native level. With a network of specialist translators and a Russian-speaker on the staff, we now look forward to receiving further assignments from Diageo

140,000+ words from English to Russian, 7 translators, 21 days
The most challenging project for Reflex Translation Services in 2007 was the translation from English into Russian of a complete set of SAP enterprise management system documents for Diageo Great Britain Ltd. Established from a merger of GrandMet and Guinness, Diageo plc is the world's leading premium drinks business and the UK's eleventh largest company, producing Baileys and Johnnie Walker, among many other brands. Diageo Great Britain is the mainland UK sales and marketing company of Diageo plc. Reflex Ltd was recommended to them by Diageo Hungary, a former client of ours. With seven, mostly native Russian translators assigned to the job, we successfully completed the project by the set deadline.

SAP documents from German into Hungarian, 3+ translators/interpreters, 6 months
In 2006, LUK Savaria, a manufacturer of clutch sets for the automotive industry and a member company the Schaeffler Group, Germany, placed an order with Reflex Translation Services for the translation of SAP documents, as well. Three of our translators spent half a year, from August 2006 to February 2007, rendering a German SAP system into Hungarian on site at LUK's manufacturing plant in Szombathely, Hungary, as well as occasionally acting as interpreters during SAP-related workshops and training sessions. Demand for language support peaked in early January 2007, when Reflex had to deploy 8 interpreters to facilitate the introduction of the new SAP system.

Technical Interpreting, 4 months, 24/7
The Hot Strip Mill Revamp Project of steel giant Dunaferr in Dunaújváros, Hungary required the provision of around-the-clock English to Hungarian interpreting services from March to June in 2007. In the first weeks of the project, Reflex Translation Services provided 5 day-shift interpreters and 3 night-shift interpreters to assist communication between British and American contractors and Hungarian site engineers in a variety of technical areas, including hot rolling processes, hydraulics, mechanics, and control engineering.
