Company History
Reflex Translations is proud to have been in business for 30 years. With its 7 Hungarian offices, 1,800 translators and several dozen foreign translation agency partners, Reflex currently is one the country`s leading translation agencies.
Lajos Énekes, the principal owner of Reflex Ltd., had founded his first translation office, the Lajos Énekes Metallurgical Translation Services, as a side business in 1981 with a headquarter in Miskolc. From 1 December, 1983 the agency`s business activity has been pursued in a corporate form, as an economic work team. The agency was named Reflex in 1985 and since that time it has been operating as a general translation agency and in 1990 it was transformed into a limited liability company.
Before the changes the majority of Reflex`s income was coming from large state-owned companies (Lenin Metallurgical Works, Diósgyőr Machinery Works, Borsod Chemical Group, Tisza Chemical Group, Tisza Power Plant, North-Hungarian Power Supplier, Duna Oil Refinery Company, Mátra Power Plant, etc). The total revenue of the 1989 business year, the last year before the changes, was HUF 5,6 which indexed to 2010 prices corresponds to approx. HUF 70-80 million.
In course of the few years immediately following 1990, Reflex –just like the whole economy- suffered a significant downturn. At relative value the agency`s price income only reached again the 1989 level in 1994, however, after that time -until the 2009 economic crisis- it had been increasing steadily.
The Budapest office no. I., which currently operates in the MOM Park, had opened in January 1997 and the Győr branch office started its operations in early 2006. Reflex`s office network was expanded in 2009 through the addition of the Kecskemét office and in 2010 the Nyíregyháza and Szeged representations. The Budapest no. II. was launched in early 2011. at Budapest VI. District Bajza u. 54.
The agency`s net price income exceeded HUF 100 million in 2003, in 2004 HUF 200 million and in 2007 the HUF 300 million limit. Approx. 90-95% of Reflex`s revenues are produced by providing translation services and the rest mostly by providing interpretation services.
With the exception of the 2009 business year, Reflex Ltd. closed every year at a profit; the after tax profit of the agency fluctuates between 10 and 20% of the price income.
The company introduced the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system in the spring of 2004, and in July of the same year, first among Hungarian translation offices, the agency was awarded the title of NATO supplier.
Reflex Translations Ltd. is a member of the Association of Hungarian Translation Companies and the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
