Website translation
If the product or service of a company can arouse the interest of foreign consumers, the most efficient way of reaching the foreign target group is to translate the website into a foreign language(s). The translation, of course, has to be absolutely flawless, both linguistically and professionally, otherwise the foreign target audience will not take the offer seriously. It is expedient, therefore, to order website translations together with native proofreading.
This, however, is only one of the conditions. It is just as important to make sure that potential foreign buyers who search for the given product/service find the page. This is why the translated website has to be highly search-optimized to be successful among competitors who, compared to domestic standards, are generally much stronger. Namely, the website should appear on the given keywords preferably on the first page of search engines – first and foremost on Google.
Let us take an example:
Let us suppose that a Hungarian company manufactures equipment necessary for the utilization of solar energy. The website is well-optimised, thus it appears at the top of the search list on Google when the search word ‘solar energy’ is used in Hungarian. The company, therefore, has a good chance of receiving requests for offers from Hungarian consumers who look for such products on the web. It is not so difficult to achieve this status by applying the necessary search-optimizing techniques, since google.hu gives approximately 200 thousand results for this search word.
If, however, the company would like to launch its products on the German market as well, and sell them with the help of the internet, it would have to tackle the more difficult task of fighting its way up to the top of a list consisting of nearly 4 million search results for the German word ‘Sonnenenergie’. There are two ways for website optimization: the so-called on-site and off-site method. Namely: the appropriate alteration and compilation of the text of the website, and the application of tools outside the website. The combination of the two methods is necessary for success.
The website translating branch of Reflex Translation Services can help you with content optimization by providing “searcher-friendly” foreign-language content in the required language(s) to your foreign-language website. We perform translation and content development in cooperation with our partner, Weboriginal Kft. (www.weboriginal.eu). Following the sharpening of the foreign-language site, Weboriginal will undertake off-site optimization with pleasure.
How much more does website translation cost than regular translation?
Search-optimized translation is 15% more expensive than regular translation in the case of the same language pair.
Naturally, if our client does not need search-optimized content, he/she can order the translation of the website without any additional charge, as regular translation.
How long does it take to complete the search-optimized translation of a website?
Like in the case of other documents, we undertake the translation of websites, charging different rates depending on urgency. Of course, the longer the text and the more words the page has to be optimized for, the longer the optimization process will take. It seems expedient to calculate with one extra day on average.
How can our client support the work of specialized translators?
If you determine the required key words and expressions in advance, or simply provide marketing guidelines, you will help our colleagues immensely. Besides these, any other essential pieces of information (the indication of special web file formats, earlier versions, former search-optimization experience, etc.) further facilitate the execution of the task.
We carried out our largest website translation projects in the recent past for the clients below:
- Diamond Dental Klinik (Dental Clinic in Switzerland)
- MOL – Hungarian Oil and Gas PLC (47 pagesl!)
- Nokia Siemens Networks
- Porsche Hungária (microsites)
- RoofLite (9 languages!)
- Szemerey Transport
- WebEye International
- Zóna Taxi
To the attention of quote requesters
We plead for your understanding, but we can only provide free quotations for website translation in case you send us in Word or Excel files the collected text of the pages to be translated. Otherwise, we undertake to prepare a quotation at an hourly fee of 3.000 HUF + ÁFA (VAT). (Our company has received requests for quotations for the translation of complete websites almost daily recently – simply by providing the URL address of the Hungarian site. On these occasions, it takes our assigned colleague several hours, sometimes a full day of work, to collect the text of an often several-hundred-page-long website. Obviously, relative to the quantity, the total sum of the quote is substantial as well; therefore, a significant percentage of quote requesters would rather abandon their plan to have their website translated.)
